Carleton Forehoe

The War Memorial can be found on the wall in St. Mary the Virgin, Carleton Forehoe in Norfolk. It is a large, white, marble plaque set against a pink background of the same material. It lists the names of six veterans who fought and died in the First World War including the Wodehouse brothers. The latter can also be found on the War Memorial in Kimberley.

 

Bertie Bowles

Bertie was educated at Hingham Grammar School. He enlisted in 1908 but was killed in 1917 at Gallipoli.

Donald Hadingham

Donald enlisted early and joined the Machine Gun Corps. He was killed in action in Syria in 1917.

Bertie was a teacher before he joined up. He was posted to Gallipoli and survived but died in Alexandria soon after.

Edgar was one of nine children. He enlisted in 1915, but was reported missing presumed killed in action a year later.
