Lest We Forget
Our mission is to commemorate and celebrate the lives of soldiers that were born in our Parishes and who left our villages to serve our nation.
The First & Second World Wars claimed the lives of million of civilians and military personnel across the world. Our mission is to commemorate and celebrate the lives of the 160 soldiers from the rural villages named on the 15 war memorials within the our group of Norfolk Parishes. Many of these men were workers on the local farms and estates and their deaths in foreign lands were deeply felt by the families they left behind, who had no body to bring home and bury. Behind each name on each memorial is a person, a life, a family and a death. Each had an impact on the people they left behind. Our project aims to preserve their legacy, and to record a memory of their life and memories of the villages as they were in times past, to work together in our communities to uncover our history and record it for future generations.
