Harry Newson was born in Scoulton on 11 December 1892 and was baptised at the church of Scoulton with Woodrising on 30 April 1893.

He was the son of Albert John Newson, farm labourer, and Eleanor his wife, both natives of Carbrook.

He attended school at Cranworth from 17 February 1896 to 17 June 1898.

Virtually none of his military records survive, but it is recorded that at the time of his enlistment he was resident in Thuxton. He was killed on 16 July 1918 and is buried at Bienvilliers Military Cemetery (Grave XVIII C5). The inscription on his tombstone reads:

TILL WE MEET AGAIN

Harry’s effects, totalling £35 14s. 4d., were paid out to his father.
