Frederick was born on 30 November 1898 in Letton. He was the youngest child of George and Sarah Green and the younger brother of Lionel.

His war records do not survive thus we know little of his actions in the war. He enlisted in Attleborough as a Private in the 61st Battalion of the Machine Gun Corps Infantry. This Battalion was formed at Grantham in Cambridgeshire before embarking to France and joining the 20th Division on 3rd March 1916. It then amalgamated into the 20th Battalion on 15th March 1918. Frederick was tragically killed in action barely a week later on 21st March 1918 aged only 19.

His body was never recovered but he is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial in France. He was posthumously awarded the Victory and British Medals, and his army pension was awarded to his mother, Sarah.
