He was born in Hardingham on 26 December 1895, the eldest of the three sons of Alfred and Ellen Hunt. He was baptised at Hardingham Church on 4 January 1896.
He is recorded as being admitted to Hardingham Church of England School on 8 May 1900, leaving on 8 July 1909 to do “Garden Work”. By the time of the 1911 Census, he was recorded as working as a stable help, and according to the Hardingham War Memorial Register, he later worked as a grocer’s assistant, prior to enlisting in the Leicestershire Regiment in October 1915.
The Register also records, apropos the youngest son Wilfred Hunt, that the family moved to Leicester in 1916.
Frank Hunt was posted abroad in March 1916. He was reported missing, believed killed, in March 1918, but his grave was subsequently located and he is now buried at Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery, Epehy.
